I have never been a dog person. I say it this way, because people who are- get it; I would consider myself more of a cat person. My logic has always been that cats are independent, spirited, intuitive and require a whole lot less maintenance. Dogs on the other hand are very dependent, needy, require a lot of time and effort, and you can’t go away without finding a puppy hotel or lodging for their care; not to mention I have 3 children, one on the way and a husband, who are all high maintenance in their own way; my plate is full.
Things are about to change however and the entire process came through my intuition and that of each member of my family. We are experiencing a lot of new changes in our household. Next month we are moving into a bigger house to accommodate another baby and our goal is to have at least the most basic of our stuff settled before school starts. Earlier this year, my mom came to live with us; our son’s baseball team has won their All Star championship, are in the middle of playing in the state’s championship, and will most likely be going to regionals in early August; and now we have decided to add a puppy to the mix. Why this would occur at this already hectic time of our lives I can only leave to the higher powers that be.
About 2 weeks ago I was observing my 2 1/2 year old daughter at play on the porch. I can’t really say what it was about her movements that grabbed my attention, but for some reason the way she was moving about caused me to envision her at play with a puppy and not just any puppy, but a beagle puppy. I grew up with a big dog (a siberian husky) and my husband always had golden retrievers around so where the idea of a beagle came from I couldn’t say except that my intuition spoke to me. I presented the idea to my husband who was shocked at first (because I swore I would never have a dog), but immediately joined in with the idea. We began searching the internet for a local breeder and came across a web site with 1000’s of puppies for sale; 100’s of which are beagles. I scrolled several pages for a few days and decided to let it go and wait. After all, we are moving in 6 weeks and could wait until then to get a puppy. This would not end up being the case however. The rest of my family is about to join in on this process as this puppy pulls us all intuitively toward her.
Next I will share how my oldest son becomes a lead in finding our family puppy!

I have grown up around animals all of my life. Most of my life I’ve been a cat person. I met a female white cat & her name was Alley. She wasn’t mine, but she ended up mine & she was in my life for about 12 years. During the 1980’s, when a lot of my family members passed away, whenever I grieved, Alley came to me no matter where she was (outside, or on my bed sleeping). When I would cry, she’d come to me, lie on my chest & purr till I stopped crying. She did so much for me that I made her a promise that my first daughter would carry her name, that her name would live on. So my first daughter is named after my cat, only I dropped the “e” = Ally. All my kids grew up w/ Alley. When she passed away, it was from old age.
There was one night when I was having a nightmare, I can’t remember the dream, but I do remember that I was woken up by a LOUD “MEOW”!! right in my ear!! I have another cat, Tiger, but when I woke up, he was nowhere around! I knew that Alley woke me!!
I knew we would need time B/4 getting another cat. 4 months went by when I “clearly” heard a voice in my head that said, “Go get your cat.” I got really excited & couldn’t wait for the kids to get home from school. I called the SPCA to ask if they have any white cats for adoption? They said no, not in that facility, but they do have some at their ‘other’ facility, at Petcetra. As soon as the kids got off the bus, they got right into the car & we went to Petcetra. I told Ally to find our cat. I felt that Ally would find Alley (cuz she did reincarnate to come back to us). Ally picked the smallest of the litter. I asked her why this one? She said that the kitten didn’t leave her. The other kittens would come over, bat her hand, lick her, & then walked off. The littlest one stayed right in front of her, licked her, kept his paw on her fingers. Since Alley came back as a ‘boy’ this time, I told the kids that we need to find ‘him’ a different name. We thought about everything ‘white’ that we could & came up w/ “Sugar”. When Tiger first met Sugar, I opened the cat carrier & Sugar came jumping out & towards Tiger & I swear, I could hear Tiger saying, “Alley, how did you get so small?” The older Sugar got, the more personality traits of Alley came back.
Where we live now, there’s a lot of neighborhood dogs that visit us a lot. We feed & water them, love & play w/ them. A lot of the dogs & puppies have been hit & killed by cars, but in spirit, they still come & visit us, even protect us. One of my kids told me that some of the dogs were playing in our yard & while I was sitting on the porch, they were licking me on my face. UNfortunately, I didn’t see, nor feel them (whahhhh).
We also have wild mustang horses that wonder around this area. One of the lead horses helped my son last week. My son was coming home after dark. We don’t have much light on our roads & he was very scared. The lead horse of the herd walked Elijah home, protecting him. Eli said that every time he looked at the horse, the horse bowed his head, Eli bowed back. When Eli got home, he said his thanks to the horse, that Eli called his “angel”. I also prayed my thanks.
